Mark 6:53-56
After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret and tied up there. As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.

To think that people literally flocked to Jesus to be healed is just awe-inspiring. Today our needs are no less but we have so many other things to "flock" to in search of healing for all of the various physical, emotional, social, even spiritual woes of life. For me though, it always seems that I receive the most genuine inner peace when I seek Christ.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine this? Like, for real though. Jesus healing with just a single TOUCH. Today we rely on so many medicines, so many experts to tell us what is right and wrong, so much information that is saturated through the internet that explains what we as the public must and must not do. It is, at least for me, sometimes easy to forget Jesus in this wave of human capacity.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don´t think this means then that we should pray for God to heal our every illness and disregard medicine(God DOES want us to take care of ourselves in our own capacity), it should remind us of how powerful faith and prayer really is in our life. There have been several times in my life where prayer has made a significant difference, and not just a purely physical one. It´s important to realize that Jesus has our back, that if we have faith and pray, He really CAN heal us of ailments that we face, both phyical, emotional, and spiritual. We only need to lay ourselves before Him, admitting our own brokenness, and He will wash us over with His grace and love.
